The South African Broadcasting Corporation (SABC), in partnership with Sun City, proudly presents the inaugural ZIYAKHALA MO SUN CITY FESTIVAL – an electrifying celebration of traditional music, cultural expression, and African fashion. This pioneering collaboration unites all nine of the SABC’s African Language radio stations to bring South Africa a festival unlike any other.
“Ziyakhala” – a vibrant South African slang phrase meaning “it’s happening” or “the party’s on” – meets the Setswana word “Mo” (meaning “here”) to bring the celebration home. It’s not just a festival – it’s a cultural movement.
Curated to offer an immersive and luxurious escape, the ZIYAKHALA MO SUN CITY FESTIVAL will shine a spotlight on authentic South African musical traditions. From the soul-stirring sounds of maskandi with Mthandeni SK, Sjava, Qadasi & Maqhinga, to the rich diversity of genres represented by celebrated artists including: Ringo Madlingozi, King Monada, Cassper Nyovest, Dr Nothembi Mkhwebane, Makhadzi, Lwah Ndlukulu, Ntate Stunna, General Muzka and Lady Smith Black Mambazo.
This powerful lineup promises a musical journey that transcends borders and generations.
Nombuso Buthelezi, Sun City’s Head of Events, shared her excitement:
“This truly unique partnership allows us to touch all corners of the country and reach lovers of traditional South African music. It’s more than a festival – it’s a one-of-a-kind celebration of who we are as a people.”
Thinasiphelele Sixaso, General Manager for Public Service Radio at the SABC, added:
“The SABC is the custodian of the country’s cultural expressions and musical heritage. Through our African Language stations, we’re proud to help tell the story of our creative industry and support traditional artistic expression.”
