Steyn City launched a state-of-the-art 300-meter lagoon that brings coastal life to the concrete jungle.

Promising residents a lifestyle like no other when the city was first conceptualised, the launch of the “man-made beach” facility takes the award-winning development closer to this goal.

The chemical-free, clear crystalline waters are powered by GAST Clearwater™ and while it’s not the first of its kind in the country, it does mean all-year-round summer vibes for residents.

The beach lagoon is similar to that of The Blyde in Pretoria, which made headlines over the weekend for a R250 fee residents were expected to pay to access the facility.

With every form of water-based entertainment available, from pedalos to SUPs, kayaks, water slides, beach volleyball, beach-style sandpits and a zero-depth water feature perfect for toddlers.

The Lagoon caters to the residents who enjoy Steyn City’s orientation towards a lifestyle rooted in wellness and leisure, swimming just six lengths is the equivalent of 1,6 kilometres, making it ideal for triathletes and serious swimmers.

The green lung of Johannesburg

Dubbed the green lung of Johannesburg, the development is a Utopian parkland residence with acres of indigenous landscaping, open spaces and luxury.

A drive through the city can be misleading as one no longer feels they’re still in Johannesburg.

Steyn City was launched in 2015 by Douw Steyn and Giuseppe Plumari and now 6-years later is already home to 1 000 residents with new developments pinned for next year.

A further R5.5 billion will be invested into the next phase of developments in the city, which includes plans to ‘entirely pedestrianise’ the city centre, in further attempts to stay as green as possible.

The innovative, smart city is entirely self-maintained with its own water reservoir, generators and solar panel system.
