Multi-platinum South African producer and artist Abidoza has officially kicked off a new sonic era with the release of his latest single, “Club What”, featuring Djy Vino.
The track, which dropped across all major streaming platforms today, sees the hitmaker temporarily step away from his signature smooth, soulful Amapiano style in favor of a heavier, high-energy dancefloor sound.
A departure from smooth Amapiano
Abidoza has spent more than a decade establishing himself as one of South Africa’s premier producers and musical arrangers, crafting major hits such as “Siyathandana”, “Dinaledi“, and “Baby Boy”, alongside high-profile collaborations with Cassper Nyovest, Focalistic, Davido, and CKay.
With “Club What”, Abidoza revisits a driving, club-focused production style built around hard-hitting grooves and infectious chants—a sound he last explored roughly six years ago.
“People know me for my soulful and smooth sound, so this project is really about showing another side of me,” said Abidoza. “I haven’t explored this kind of club sound properly in about six years, and I felt like it was time to challenge myself and give people something different.”
Paving the way for ‘Club Controller’ EP
The new single serves as the lead track for Abidoza’s upcoming eight-track EP, Club Controller. The song has already gathered organic traction on TikTok and within local DJ sets ahead of its official release. Designed with live performances and festival sets in mind, the broader project highlights Abidoza’s identity as a performing DJ.
“The songs are more energetic and made with the DJ and the dance floor in mind,” Abidoza added. “‘Club What’ is just the beginning and I’m excited for people to hear where I’m taking it.”
A second single is scheduled for release in October, paving the way for the full EP drop ahead of the South African summer season.
