Dee Koala gives a snapshot of her rap style in her recently-released debut album 4 the Khaltsha. In the project’s 14 songs, the young rapper takes her listener to the streets of Cape Town’s biggest township, Khayelitsha (also known as Kaltsha), where she hails from. After releasing her 2018 hit single Whuzet, which features impressive bars and smooth transitions between isiXhosa and English, her talent quickly caught the attention of popular local rapper Riky Rick.
South African hip-hop industry was one of my highlights of last year, and I couldn’t wait to get back to for this year’s event. 5FM and Nike respectively, offered festival goers free tattoos, while Dickies and Legends offered free fresh haircuts. DJ Speedsta hosted the Skate Park, LOQ Down hosted the Basketball Court sponsored by Sportscene and the gaming activities were powered by Vodacom and PlayStation.
