To commemorate Human Rights Day on March 21, Liberty is partnering with the Ipelegeng Skills Centre in White City, Soweto, to present an engaging stage play focused on financial education. This unique initiative aims to empower the community by addressing key financial topics such as poverty alleviation, responsible saving and spending, and entrepreneurship skills development.
Connecting Human Rights and Financial Inclusion
“This interactive stage play highlights the critical link between human rights and financial inclusion. Our goal is to equip community members with the knowledge and skills they need to make informed financial decisions and build secure financial futures,” says Nomaxabiso Matjila, Lead Specialist, CSI at Liberty.
“Basic human rights are enshrined in our Constitution, and economic freedom is an essential part of them. Through this play, we are exploring financial inclusion in the context of human rights, ensuring that participants understand the role of economic empowerment in securing their financial well-being,” adds Matjila.
Interactive Storytelling for Real-World Financial Lessons
The stage play is designed to encourage audience participation, making financial concepts more relatable and accessible. By incorporating thought-provoking storytelling, the performance will inspire discussions, allowing attendees to ask questions and gain practical insights into money management.

Beyond entertainment, the event will also feature discussions on responsible lending and debt management, equipping attendees with essential tools to make smarter financial decisions and avoid common financial pitfalls.
