Accra is set to become the epicenter of continental dialogue next month as African leaders, policymakers, investors, creatives, and diaspora powerhouses converge for the 2026 Elevate Africa Convening. Taking place from 28 to 29 October at the Movenpick Ambassador Hotel in Accra, Ghana, the two-day gathering will run under the resolute theme, “Africa: Defining Her Future.”

The timing could not be more critical. Africa is pushing aggressively to transform the African Continental Free Trade Area (AfCFTA) from a paper agreement into dynamic regional markets, robust production networks, and tangible opportunities for local businesses.

The summit aligns with a growing urgency for regional integration. A World Bank report released in August urged the continent to shift from simple trade links toward establishing dedicated regional production hubs. Adding momentum to this push, the AfCFTA Secretariat recently unveiled a massive $5.17-billion Digital Trade Corridor designed to supercharge digital infrastructure for intra-African commerce.

Ghana’s capital provides a fitting backdrop for these high-level talks. As host to the AfCFTA Secretariat, Accra remains at the heart of Africa’s trade integration agenda. The event also coincides with Ghanaian President John Dramani Mahama’s “Accra Reset” initiative, which champions economic self-reliance, resource sovereignty, and local value creation.

Hosted under the leadership of Their Royal Majesties Ogiamẹ Atuwatsé III, CFR, and Olorì Atuwatsé III—the King and Queen Consort of the Warri Kingdom—the convening brings together Heads of State, traditional leaders, youth advocates, and civil society actors to turn demographic potential into sustained prosperity.

The agenda centers on four critical pillars:

• Trade Governance and Economic Integration: Tackling AfCFTA execution, trade finance, and resource management. With intra-African trade topping $220 billion in 2024, sessions will focus on keeping more value within the continent.
• Governance, Policy, and Advocacy: Strengthening institutions, democratic resilience, and exploring the synergy between traditional leadership and elected officials.
• Youth and the Creative Economy: Positioning film, fashion, gaming, and music as economic drivers. The pillar highlights the Threads of Africa initiative and fashion film awards, celebrating African textile heritage and storytelling.
• The Diaspora: Moving beyond remittances to leverage global African capital, expertise, and networks for long-term investment.

“Africa is moving into a new phase,” said Joy Godwin, Elevate Africa’s Convening Project Lead. “The conversation is increasingly shifting from what the continent could become to how we build the systems, institutions, and partnerships that will make that future possible.”

Up to 900 in-person and virtual delegates are expected to attend, with the summit slated to yield the landmark Accra Declaration alongside key cross-sector investment deals.
